Andy Marshall named Blaine School District's 2026 Teacher of the Year (thenorthernlight.com) — Blaine choir director Andy Marshall has been named the Blaine School District’s 2026 Teacher of the Year for grades 6–12, recognizing his leadership at Blaine Middle and High Schools. He also helps lead the Blaine Harbor Music Camp, which is accepting registrations for its July 12–18 residential session for young musicians.

Cesar Luna: Founder of Clean Cut Futures (cascadiadaily.com) — A Whatcom County barber who volunteers at the jail is now also offering free monthly haircuts to veterans at American Legion Post 86 in Blaine, building connections through conversation and care. He shares how his nonprofit, Clean Cut Futures, supports incarcerated people and abused kids with fresh cuts and school clothes, all to help neighbors feel seen, respected, and hopeful.

5. Entering the US from Vancouver, BC via Amtrak just got faster (fox13seattle.com) — Amtrak Cascades passengers traveling from Vancouver, B.C. into the U.S. will now clear customs at Pacific Central Station instead of stopping in Blaine shaving at least 10 minutes off the trip. The change comes with a new preclearance designation just ahead of World Cup crowds and is expected to boost cross-border rail travel.
