• Rick Steves purchases Edmonds Theater moviehouse (theolympian.com) — Rick Steves has bought the historic Edmonds Theater, vowing to keep the 100-year-old Main Street moviehouse thriving as both a cinema and community gathering place, regardless of profit. He plans eventual art deco renovations while current movies and special events, like a documentary on old moviehouses, continue under longtime manager Justin Pritchett. 
• Over 50 Firefighters Fight Multiple Fires in Snohomish County Tuesday (myeverettnews.com) — Firefighters battled multiple brush fires and a serious house fire near Lake Ballinger in Edmonds, where three residents were displaced but escaped without injury. More than 50 firefighters from South County Fire and neighboring agencies contained the flames quickly, preventing spread to nearby homes, while Support 7 and the Red Cross are now helping the affected Edmonds family.
• A fundraising update from the Founder's Desk: $26K donated so far (myedmondsnews.com) — A local fundraising push is underway to support the Edmonds-based My Neighborhood News Group, which includes My Edmonds News, with donations matched up to $35,000. Readers are encouraged to give via checks, stock, IRAs, vehicles, or estate plans, with a special ice cream coupon available for $100-plus gifts at Common Grounds in the Edmonds Waterfront Center.
