• LEGALS- April 15, 2026 (lyndentribune.com) — A Ferndale home at 1978 Somerset Street is scheduled for a trustee’s foreclosure sale on May 15, 2026, after unpaid taxes and charges triggered default. The same batch of legal notices also includes other Whatcom County foreclosure auctions, a Nooksack surplus truck bid opportunity, and several new probate filings that may matter to local creditors and heirs. 
• Applying for flood disaster assistance is different this time around (whatcom-news.com subscription) — Ferndale homeowners affected by the 2021 floods are now included in new FEMA-related funding, with Hazard Mitigation Grant dollars set aside to elevate some damaged properties. Whatcom County residents can also apply for updated FEMA Individual Assistance for the December 2025 storms, with key rule changes that make it easier to qualify but on a tighter timeline.
