• San Juan Islands hit by outage affecting thousands, tied to mainland accident (komonews.com) — A major power outage tied to a mainland accident is disrupting service across the San Juan Islands today and causing delays on the Anacortes–San Juan ferry route serving Friday Harbor. Residents should expect slower sailings and no-show fees waived while crews work to repair a downed wire and restore electricity to more than 15,000 affected customers.
• A small, mighty cancer center brings hope to its visitors (sanjuanjournal.com) — Cancer patients on San Juan Island can now receive many treatments close to home at the Deanna J. Anderson Cancer Care and Specialty Center in Friday Harbor, avoiding frequent off-island trips. The small center offers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, screenings, and deeply personal support, with volunteers, staff, and neighbors often crossing paths around town and rallying around awareness campaigns like March’s colorectal cancer focus.
