• Deaf Kitsap musician's journey to sound inspires award-winning documentary (krem.com) — A deaf Kitsap County musician's journey with cochlear implants and electronic music is featured in the award-winning documentary "Sound Again," which will screen at the Gig Harbor Film Festival later this month. If you love inspiring, music-centered stories, you'll be able to catch the film locally between September 24 and 27, alongside other regional festival showings.
   

• Sept. 11 attack still killing firefighters, chief says on 25th anniversary of tragedy (gigharbornow.org) — Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a ceremony at their Bujacich Road headquarters, where Chief Dennis Doan highlighted that more than 600 firefighters have since died from related illnesses. Local fire and law enforcement leaders gathered to honor those lost and stress that the health impacts of Ground Zero exposure continue today.
