📰 News we're reading

• Decision on dam, levees postponed until further notice (thenewstribune.com) — Hoquiam’s city administrator Brian Shay joined other Chehalis Basin Board members in postponing a major decision on a proposed Pe Ell dam and alternative levee system, leaving long-term flood plans unresolved. With environmental reviews delayed and both main options showing drawbacks, the board is eyeing possible Skookumchuck Dam modifications as a compromise for flood control and fish protection.

• Clifton D. Todd (thedailyworld.com) — Hoquiam is remembering Clifton D. Todd, who moved here as a baby, attended local schools, and went on to a long career in Grays Harbor law enforcement, retiring as Aberdeen’s police chief. The 100-year-old Navy veteran is recalled for his community service, devotion to family, and active retirement life with his late wife, Helen.
