• University Place man sentenced to prison for 95 mph wreck that killed friend (thenewstribune.com subscription) — Pierce County courts have sentenced a University Place man to prison for a deadly DUI crash and, in a separate case, a 45-year-old driver for a multi-vehicle wreck in Lakewood that killed one person and seriously injured another. Lakewood police and West Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to the South Tacoma Way collision, and the driver received nearly ten years after mental health and substance use were evaluated.
