Makenzie Henthorn of Mark Morris named The Columbian's All-Region softball player of the year (tri-cityherald.com) — Longview softball standout Makenzie Henthorn, Mark Morris’ ace pitcher, capped her career with a dramatic state championship and has been named The Columbian’s All-Region softball player of the year. She’s heading to the University of Montana next, but says she’ll never forget building Mark Morris’ program over four seasons in Longview alongside teammates who helped turn the Monarchs into champions.

Worker injured after falling into hydro pulper pit at Longview paper mill (kptv.com) — A worker at Longview’s WestRock paper mill was rescued Wednesday after falling into a hydro pulper pit and was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Longview Fire and Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue used ladders and a rescue basket to reach him, and state labor officials may review what caused the incident.
