• TRL rescinds 80% of planned mandatory layoffs (thedailyworld.com) — McCleary’s Timberland Library staff have largely been spared, as TRL reversed most planned layoffs, keeping the McCleary branch from shifting to an unstaffed model. After intense public and union pressure, leaders cut other costs instead and are eyeing a future levy lid lift, while Friends of the McCleary Library celebrate keeping services open for local residents.
   

• GGHI Business Recognition Awards nominees named (thedailyworld.com) — McCleary gets a nod this year with the McCleary Hotel nominated for New Business of the Year at Greater Grays Harbor’s upcoming Leaders’ Banquet in Ocean Shores. The May 15 event will honor standout small, large, and nonprofit organizations, raise funds to support local economic development, and feature a themed dinner, auction, and table-decorating contest.
