Local standouts included runners Marcus Weichel and Jio Patton and receiver Rahim Showki, while Centralia's balanced offense and mistake-free play kept Sammamish chasing throughout the non-league matchup. 
• Klahanie kung fu school builds community through martial arts (sammamishindependent.com) — A Sammamish-area kung fu academy based in Klahanie is using martial arts to build community, offering programs for local students, seniors, and children with disabilities. Master Xiang Gao, who chose Sammamish for its welcoming spirit, runs classes in traditional Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and self-defense, and partners with Skyline High School while hosting free Tai Chi sessions and inclusive classes.
