Man seriously injured in hit-and-run near Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood (komonews.com) — A bicyclist was seriously injured early Monday when a gray sedan hit him from behind on Aurora Avenue North near Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood and then drove off. Seattle police and fire crews rushed him to Harborview, and detectives are now asking anyone who saw the collision or has video to contact investigators as they work to identify the driver.
   

2. Washington's shakiest decade: Four earthquakes in 10 years left a deadly toll (fox13seattle.com) — Scientists are warning that a major quake on the Seattle Fault could send a tsunami up to 33 feet into Elliott Bay, devastating Seattle's waterfront and nearby communities with almost no warning. They point to Washington's history of clustered quakes, from 1939 through Nisqually in 2001, and stress that older Seattle buildings need retrofits to withstand the next big shake.
   

3. 'I didn't think she bit a chunk off': Seattle woman whose forehead was bitten by random attacker speaks out (mynorthwest.com) — A Seattle woman is recovering after a stranger allegedly hurled racist insults, spat on her, and bit a piece from her forehead during a work break near the Arctic Hotel downtown. She now faces surgery, lasting emotional trauma, and an upcoming court process, while urging that the second-degree assault charge against the accused attacker remain a felony rather than be reduced.
   

4. King County Prosecutor's Office says overdose deaths are down significantly in 2026 (kiro7.com) — Confirmed overdose deaths in King County have fallen by more than half this year, with Seattle still at the center of felony drug dealing prosecutions, especially in Belltown, downtown, and the Chinatown-International District. Officials credit expanded treatment and naloxone access, while front-line workers in Seattle neighborhoods say they still encounter people in apparent overdose nearly every day.
   

5. 4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Kitsap Peninsula: Did You Feel It? (news-usa.today) — A 4.2 magnitude earthquake on the Kitsap Peninsula sent light shaking from Seattle to Olympia, but caused no reported damage or tsunami threat. Scientists say quakes of this size are normal here, yet they're urging residents to file USGS Felt Reports and review basic preparedness steps like family plans, securing furniture, and signing up for alerts.
