Neighbors concerned over bounty hunters' arrest response in Seattle neighborhood (kiro7.com) — Neighbors in Seattle's Greenwood area are raising alarms after bounty hunters used paintballs and a Taser while arresting a man with multiple warrants near Sandel Park, just feet from families. Residents say the chaotic scene, including an RV collision and a woman zip-tied outside a home, felt disorganized and unsafe, prompting calls for greater oversight of private bail recovery agents.
   

2. Seattle teacher's union votes to authorize strike over district contract (fox13seattle.com) — Seattle teachers have voted to authorize a strike after contract talks with Seattle Public Schools stalled, putting the Sept. 2 start of school at risk. Educators say they're pushing for better pay, smaller classes, and stronger special education services, while district leaders insist they're still bargaining. Union members plan to keep negotiating daily in hopes of avoiding a walkout.
   

3. CONGRATULATIONS! Metro's Operator of the Year says a West Seattle route is her favorite (westseattleblog.com) — A longtime Metro driver who grew up in South King County has been named Operator of the Year, and her favorite route runs right through West Seattle. Tamieko Cook, a second-generation Metro operator and South Seattle College graduate, says she loves being "captain of the ship" and urges fellow drivers to always lead with respect, even when it's not returned.
   

4. ANA New Pokémon-Themed Boeing 787-9 Is Heading to the US (aviationa2z.com) — Seattle travelers could soon spot a Pokémon-covered ANA Dreamliner on flights between Tokyo and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport starting September 18. The "Green Pokémon Jet" Boeing 787-9 will feature Grass-type characters inside and out, and may rotate among routes that also include Honolulu and Vancouver through March 2027, depending on operational needs.
   

5. Meta to pay 47 states up to $17.1B in landmark child safety settlement (dailyfly.com) — From Seattle, officials announced a massive settlement requiring Meta to pay up to $17.1 billion and add strict time limits, night modes, and other safeguards for young Facebook and Instagram users. Washington families will see new default protections for teens' screen time and content, while states share settlement funds over the next decade.
