Bite of Seattle shooting investigation: 'We're getting close' (seattletimes.com) — Seattle's interim police chief says investigators are "getting close" to identifying key suspects in the deadly Bite of Seattle shooting that killed three people and injured at least four. A 15-year-old remains in juvenile detention on assault and gun charges as prosecutors seek to try him as an adult, while police sift through extensive video and forensic evidence and the city revamps emergency communications.

Man charged 4 months later in downtown Seattle hammer attack also accused of stabbing 2 people (kiro7.com) — A man has been charged with first-degree attempted murder after an unprovoked hammer attack that left a man gravely injured in downtown Seattle, and he's also accused in two later stabbings. Seattle police linked him to the May assault through surveillance and clothing, and he now faces arraignment and a court-ordered competency restoration while the victim continues a difficult recovery.
   

3. Bumbershoot 2026 returns to Seattle Center this Labor Day weekend (kiro7.com) — Bumbershoot returns to Seattle Center this Labor Day weekend, bringing two days of major music acts, Pacific Northwest food, and art experiences right in the heart of the city. Organizers highlight easy access by bus, light rail, and monorail, but note that Saturday is sold out and only limited Sunday tickets remain for this long-standing Seattle tradition.
   

4. Enter to Win Tickets to Foster the People from Emma 94..1! (audacy.com) — Seattle music fans can soon enter an online contest to win tickets to Foster The People's September 16 show at WaMu Theater. From September 7–13, residents may submit one entry per email daily, but winners must use a mobile ticketing app and meet any venue health requirements to redeem their prize.
   

5. Three big celebrations in two weeks for Dolores Sibonga (iexaminer.org) — Seattle is honoring trailblazing former City Councilmember Dolores Sibonga with city and county proclamations recognizing her decades of work on affirmative action, civil rights, and the Chinatown International District. Now 95 and living in Renton, she's celebrating renewed interest in her memoir, sharing life lessons on community, exercise, and learning from others, while her daughters reflect on her lasting impact in Seattle schools and politics.
