Spokane Public Schools launches 149 new buses with seatbelts (929zzu.com) — Spokane Public Schools is rolling out 149 brand-new buses with seatbelts, air conditioning, and upgraded cameras as students return to class tomorrow. The state-funded fleet should save the district millions over five years, and students across Spokane will now be required to buckle up on their daily rides to and from school.
   

2. Community provides input on Spokane's 20-year growth plan (kxly920.com) — Spokane is asking residents to help shape how the city grows over the next 20 years through its PlanSpokane 2046 process. Neighbors in Emerson Garfield just weighed in, and anyone in Spokane can still submit comments online to influence future development rules, neighborhood character, and where growth should go.
   

3. Church of Jesus Christ apostles minister in Spokane after devastating wildfires (deseret.com) — Weeks after destructive wildfires displaced thousands in north Spokane, top Latter-day Saint leaders visited local congregations to offer comfort, promises of ongoing support, and messages of hope. They toured burned neighborhoods, met one-on-one with affected families, and highlighted how Spokane residents—church members and neighbors alike—have stepped up to help each other rebuild emotionally and spiritually.
   

4. Multiple lane closures near Spokane schools due to ongoing construction projects (929zzu.com) — Drivers around Spokane schools will see multiple lane closures this week as construction continues near Lewis and Clark High School, Logan, Grant, and Ridgeview elementaries. The city urges you to slow down in school zones, watch for kids crossing, and plan alternate routes around Stevens, Hamilton, Perry, and Rowan to avoid delays and keep students safe.
   

5. 'Be kind': Spokane Complex Fire victim asks for grace and compassion after note left on family car (krem.com) — A Spokane family displaced by the Spokane Complex Fires is urging neighbors citywide to show more patience and empathy toward fire victims who may now be living on unfamiliar streets. After receiving a polite but painful parking note near their temporary South Hill home, they're reminding Spokane residents that many displaced families are still waiting on insurance decisions and permanent housing.

    It is awesome. Gina's Mexican restaurant 30th and grand. Large servings. They also serve breakfast (Nextdoor Cliff Cannon)
