• Fred Meyer closes James Center location in Tacoma, WA (fox13seattle.com) — A Fred Meyer at Tacoma's James Center is closing, and the company is directing shoppers to nearby stores, including the Fred Meyer on Bridgeport Way in University Place. The closure affects about 100 unionized workers and has raised concerns about a potential food desert in West Tacoma, but University Place residents will still have a full-service Fred Meyer option close to home.
