The victim sought medical treatment, and the suspect now faces potential multi-year prison sentences under West Virginia law if convicted.

2. Bridgeport therapy dog retires after 6 years of service (wboy.com) ā Students and staff in Bridgeport will be saying goodbye to Connor, the beloved therapy dog who has spent more than six years comforting kids at Bridgeport High School and Johnson Elementary. The 11-year-old golden retriever is retiring from duty with Officer Jamie Hamrick of the Bridgeport Police Department, but two of his puppies will continue the therapy dog tradition in local schools.

Junior police camp empowers Harrison County students (wboy.com) ā Bridgeportās Johnson Elementary is hosting a junior police camp this week, giving more than 30 Harrison County students handsāon lessons in gun safety, selfādefense, Kā9 work, and crimeāscene skills alongside Bridgeport police officers. Campers will also do a free carāwash service project Thursday afternoon at the school. Families can watch for Schoology notices during the year to sign up for next summerās session.

Warren and Betty Burnside Foundation awards $505,000 in scholarships to Harrison County students (wvnews.com) ā Bridgeport families can celebrate as 11 Bridgeport High School seniors each receive $5,000 scholarships from the Warren and Betty Burnside Foundation, part of $505,000 awarded countywide this year. The longārunning Harrison County nonprofit has now given more than $7.1 million in scholarships since 1992. Local students can check eligibility and future opportunities through the foundationās website.

5. Dr. Jonathan E. Stanley named Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (parsonsadvocate.com) ā A Bridgeport-based infectious disease specialist, Dr. Jonathan E.
