1. Charleston Road Closures Announced for United Bank Roof Replacement (news-usa.today) — If you drive through downtown Charleston, expect detours as Court Street and parts of Virginia Street are closing for more than a month to allow crane work on United Bank's roof. Northbound Court Street and a key Virginia Street turn lane will be restricted, though the United Bank parking garage will stay accessible from Quarrier Street until the project wraps up around October 28.

Angel Tree Program applications open until Oct. 23 (wsaz.com) — Families in Charleston who need help with Christmas gifts can now apply for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program online through Oct. 23, or in person on listed county dates. Experienced Cardiologists join WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at Thomas Hospitals (wvnstv.com) — Residents in the Charleston area now have expanded local heart care, as two long-trusted interventional cardiologists have officially joined the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute at Thomas Hospitals in South Charleston. Their decades of experience in Charleston cardiology, combined with a top-rated heart surgery program, aim to keep advanced cardiovascular treatment available close to home for area patients.
   

4. Top 5 finalists named in inaugural Coolest Thing Made in WV Contest (wvnews.com) — From Charleston, organizers have named five finalists in the first-ever Coolest Thing Made in West Virginia contest, with the winner to be announced Oct. 2 on National Manufacturing Day. The competition highlights products ranging from spacecraft metalwork to a teen entrepreneur's creations, aiming to showcase modern manufacturing careers and keep more young West Virginians working close to home.
