• ‘Creepalachia' among groups coming together to help give flood-ravaged McDowell County road a new bridge (wvnstv.com) — Residents on Sunburst Drive in Gary are a step closer to getting a proper bridge again after losing theirs in the February 2025 floods, which has left them relying on a rough access road shared with coal trucks. Volunteer groups, including Creepalachia and VOAD, are now working on engineering and fundraising plans so Gary families can safely and reliably reach their homes.
   

• West Virginia PSC inks McDowell County takeover to save Gary water system (wowktv.com) — Gary’s troubled water system is being taken over by the McDowell County PSD under a new agreement with the state Public Service Commission, aiming to eventually restore safe drinking water. Officials warn it could take up to 10 years to fully fix decades-old infrastructure, even as local leaders press lawmakers to treat clean water as a basic necessity, not an unaffordable luxury.
