Town of Beloit will need updated agreements on possible data center plans (beloitdailynews.com) — A California developer is eyeing more than 600 acres in the Towns of Beloit and Turtle for a large data center campus, and Beloit officials must now update their cost reimbursement agreement after a previous partner exited. With Turtle’s board already facing vocal opposition and delaying its own agreement, Beloit residents could see significant debate over land use, infrastructure costs, and environmental impacts.

Beloit man sentenced to life in prison for killing his friend (wkow.com) — A Beloit resident has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release for killing his friend inside their Beloit home, following a Rock County jury conviction. Testimony from witnesses, family members, and investigators detailed a chaotic scene and lasting trauma, and the judge said a lengthy sentence was necessary to honor the victim’s family and community safety.

Tony Evers as examples of how local attractions fuel Wisconsin’s record-setting $27 billion tourism economy. Wis. health system lands $65K grant to train future paramedics (ems1.com) — Beloit Health System has secured a $65,141 state grant to help local EMTs train up to paramedic level and work at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Partnering with Blackhawk Technical College, the free yearlong program aims to ease Beloit’s shortage of advanced emergency responders while creating better-paid career paths for unemployed, underemployed, and current EMTs.

Students become teachers at Rock River Jazz Camp (gazettextra.com) — Young musicians in Beloit are spending this week at Rock River Jazz Camp, where Beloit Memorial High School students and alumni are mentoring more than 100 middle schoolers. Held at Beloit Memorial, the camp pairs small groups with near-peer instructors, helping local kids build skills, confidence, and connections ahead of a Friday concert performance.
