• Madison man dies after kayak capsizes in Sugar River near Brodhead (wkow.com) — Emergency crews from Brodhead responded Tuesday after a Madison man’s kayak capsized on the Sugar River about two miles northwest of town, below the Decatur dam. Despite rescue attempts by fellow paddlers, citizens, and first responders, the 69-year-old, who was not wearing a life jacket, was pronounced dead at the scene as authorities investigate swift-water conditions.
