• Ponto returns to role of Brookfield mayor after leave of absence (gmtoday.com) — Brookfield Mayor Steve Ponto is back on the job this week after a three‑month leave of absence, thanking city staff and Acting Mayor Gary Mahkorn for stepping in. In a message to residents, he emphasized serving all of Brookfield fairly and respectfully, while reiterating his earlier criticism of anti‑Muslim online comments by former Alderman Kris Seals.
