City of Eau Claire to consider selling property for housing opportunities (gazettextra.com) — Eau Claire officials are weighing whether to declare several city-owned parcels as excess land that could be sold for new, potentially more affordable housing and to reduce maintenance costs. Neighbors and residents can give feedback at an open house Tuesday at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, helping shape which properties, if any, move forward for development and how that might affect the city budget.

'25-year' rain event leads to flooded streets in Eau Claire (wkow.com) — Eau Claire saw more than three inches of rain Wednesday, overwhelming storm drains and flooding streets and spots like Dewey Street and Mitscher Park in what engineers call a “25-year” rain event. The city’s storm system is built for smaller storms, so residents are urged to keep drains clear of debris and secure loose items to help reduce future flooding.

FIFA World Cup is a chance to inspire area youth soccer players (wqow.com) — With the World Cup underway, Eau Claire United Soccer Club leaders say local kids can draw inspiration from watching the world’s best while hundreds of youth teams arrive for this weekend’s Eau Claire United Invitational. Fans can also gather at Dooley’s Pub on Water Street, home of the Eau Claire chapter of the American Outlaws, to cheer on matches together.

Edwardsville Student Named To University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Spring Dean's List (riverbender.com) — UW–Eau Claire is celebrating students who made the spring Dean’s List, highlighting strong academic performance and strict eligibility standards. Among those honored is Edwardsville, Illinois student Sam Wittek from the College of Business, recognized for earning at least 12 credits with a 3.70 GPA or higher and meeting several additional academic criteria.

City of Eau Claire gauging community support for more absentee voting locations (weau.com) — Eau Claire officials are exploring whether to add more in-person absentee voting locations beyond the single current site at Fire Station 2 near City Hall. Local leaders say they’re responding to UW–Eau Claire students and others seeking easier early voting access, amid broader national debates over voter lists and mail-in absentee rules.
