• Show your library card and save at local businesses (madison.com) — Fitchburg Public Library is again teaming up with local businesses for the annual “Show Your Library Card and Save” promotion, running September 1–30 during National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Library cardholders can get special discounts or freebies at participating Fitchburg-area shops, while businesses receive free promotion through the library’s website, social media, and in-library signage. It’s free for both cardholders and businesses to take part, making it an easy way to support local commerce and library services. 
• Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County honors Michael Johnson with candlelight vigil (wkow.com) — Mourners gathered on a Fitchburg patio as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County held a candlelight vigil honoring longtime leader Michael Johnson’s life and impact on local children and families. Speakers, including Black Men Coalition founder Corey Marionneaux, shared emotional stories about Johnson’s mentorship and community work before ending with prayer. Organizers say Johnson’s favorite All White Party fundraiser is still planned for June 27, continuing his legacy.
• Dane County Sheriff's Office covers Flock cameras, looks toward finding new provider (gazettextra.com) — Dane County has officially ended its contract with Flock Safety’s license plate reader cameras and is now exploring a new provider, while keeping the existing cameras covered and offline. Fitchburg is among several cities that have already dropped or allowed Flock contracts to expire, shrinking the regional camera network and prompting departments to weigh privacy, data control, and public safety needs.
