• Franklin man, 25, dies from gunshot at Eagle Sports Range in Cudahy (bluewaterhealthyliving.com) — A 25-year-old Franklin man died after being shot in the chest at Eagle Sports Range in nearby Cudahy on August 28, despite immediate aid from staff and first responders. Cudahy police and range management are still investigating the cause, and no one else was injured. 
• Vitas wins double bronze on weekend to lead five American Badgers at World Rowing Championships (uwbadgers.com) — A Franklin native and 2024 Olympian captured two bronze medals at the 2026 World Rowing Championships, leading a strong showing by Wisconsin alumni on Team USA. Her performances in the women's quadruple sculls and mixed double sculls came down to fractions of a second against world-record crews.
