• Germantown PD encourages residents to take flood precautions (gmtoday.com) — Germantown police, fire, and public works crews are urging residents to clear nearby storm drains and obey road-closure barricades after heavy rains caused street and yard flooding plus washed-out shoulders in two spots. Sewer and water systems are holding within safe capacity, but officials will keep monitoring infrastructure and posting updates as more rain is expected.
• Jackson residence caught on fire after being struck by lightning (tmj4.com) — Germantown firefighters were among several area departments called to help battle a Jackson house fire Wednesday night after lightning struck a home on Division Road. No one was inside at the time, but damage to the residence and a vehicle is estimated at $335,000, and nearby roads, including Highway 60, were closed for several hours during the response.
