• Lena, Gillett school districts make deep cuts to their budgets (newmedia-wi.com) — Lena Public School District is cutting $935,000 from next year’s budget, leaving three retiring teaching positions and the middle/high school principal role unfilled while reducing classroom aides to part-time. District leaders say they’re trying to protect student programs, but some maintenance will be delayed and future finances remain uncertain. Nearby Gillett schools are also trimming early childhood programs and other costs after failed referenda.
