Roots Cause Sanitary Sewer Overflow, City Teamwork Leads to Fast Cleanup (cityofmadison.com) — City crews quickly stopped a 500-gallon sewage overflow Thursday morning on Acewood Boulevard on Madison's east side, clearing a root blockage and fully cleaning the street and sewers within about 90 minutes. Officials say the system is back to normal, and the notice is part of required state reporting on sewer overflows.
   

2. Save a Life: Changing Wisconsin's Overdose Laws (isthmus.com) — An in-person forum on Wisconsin's overdose laws is coming to UW–Madison South Partnership on September 17, giving Madison residents a chance to learn how current rules affect calling 911. Local advocacy groups will share personal stories, explain Good Samaritan protections, and discuss ways to improve state law so more people feel safe seeking emergency help during overdoses.
   

3. Photos: Remembrance ceremony on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 (madison.com) — Madison firefighters, police officers, and residents gathered Friday at Fire Station No. 14 to mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Local honor guard members rang a ceremonial bell, flags were raised, and Fire Chief Chris Carbon joined community members in remembering the victims through music, reflection, and a show of solidarity.
   

4. Wisconsin woman reflects on life changed by Sept. 11 (wxow.com) — A New York native describes how being stranded in Madison on Sept. 11, 2001 ultimately led her to relocate here permanently, rebuilding her life with help from the community. She recalls watching the attacks from Dane County Regional Airport, the trauma that followed, and how Madison's kindness helped her cope with survivor's guilt and find a new sense of home.
   

5. Madison Fire and Police Departments host 15th annual '9/11 Never Forget Blood Drive' (nbc15.com) — Madison Fire and Police Departments just wrapped up their 15th annual "9/11 Never Forget" blood drive at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, aiming to collect at least 130 units. Organizers highlighted how residents across the Madison metro area turned out to honor 9/11 victims and help ease an ongoing blood shortage, and the Red Cross urges locals to find another nearby drive if they missed it.
