• Madison Metropolitan School District connecting students to vision care with new partnerships (wmtv15news.com) — Families in Madison's public schools will soon see expanded access to free vision care, as MMSD partners with Combat Blindness International and Vision To Learn. Students who fail screenings can get exams on a mobile vision van and no-cost glasses, with services starting at two schools this week and expanding districtwide over time.

• Ahead of Madison concert and live recording, pianist explains his art (captimes.com) — Madison music lovers can catch pianist Stewart Goodyear performing his Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at Capitol Theater on Friday, Oct. 9. The concert, part of the Musical Landscapes in Color series, will be recorded live and also features works like Carlos Simon's "Movement for Flute," highlighting living composers and performers of color.

• Forward Madison FC Sporting Director to take on same role with Rally Madison FC (wmtv15news.com) — Madison soccer fans will see familiar leadership across both local pro clubs, as Forward Madison FC sporting director Matt Cairns also takes on the same role with Rally Madison FC. After building a playoff-bound men's roster in 2026, he'll now shape the women's side too, aiming to build a championship-contending USL W team by 2027.
