Madison police commission weighs bid to fire officer who shot Ruiz (captimes.com) — Madison's Police and Fire Commission is weighing a complaint seeking the firing of Officer Kiel Baitinger-Peterson, who fatally shot Corey Ruiz in July at Williamson and South Baldwin streets. In an anxious world, Wisconsin teens discover their role in making the world a better place (ucc.org) — Madison teens from Orchard Ridge UCC, Christ Presbyterian and Bethel Lutheran spent three days together exploring how their faith and talents can shape a more just world. They heard from local advocates, practiced sewing and advocacy, visited the state Capitol, and balanced serious conversations about anxiety and justice with prayer and play, building stronger connections across congregations and discovering practical ways to act in their schools and community.
   

5. UW-Madison law center receives grant to help native nations with land acquisitions (wbay.com) — UW–Madison's Great Lakes Indigenous Law Center has received a $116,024 grant to create a handbook that helps Native nations acquire or receive donated land, with work based in Madison but serving all 11 Wisconsin tribes. Led by Professor Amanda White Eagle, the project will also fund a new legal fellow and give law students hands-on experience with land, development and stewardship issues that affect communities across Madison and the state.
