Here's How Much Snow WI Can Expect This Winter, Old Farmer's Almanac Predictions Say (patch.com) — Milwaukee readers are being told to expect a generally mild and wet winter as a strengthening El Niño shapes Wisconsin's cold season, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. While some U.S. regions could see above-normal snowfall, the outlook suggests many typically snowy areas, including parts of the Midwest, may end up with near- or below-normal snow totals despite ongoing climate concerns.
   

2. Proactive Rental Inspections Poised To Return To Milwaukee (urbanmilwaukee.com) — Milwaukee is close to launching a five-year pilot that will bring proactive rental inspections to about 200 properties in the Uptown neighborhood, aiming to catch serious habitability problems before tenants must complain. If approved by the full Common Council on Sept. 22, inspectors could begin monthly rounds, with fees and repeat inspections for landlords who don't fix unsafe conditions.

South Side Milwaukee mural celebrates Latino community, takes on new meaning after school fire (wisn.com) — On Milwaukee's South Side, a vibrant mural at 17th and Lincoln now carries deeper meaning for neighbors after a fire destroyed Lincoln Elementary across the street. Created with input from local students and supported by the Brewers, the artwork honors Latino workers, paleteros, and small businesses, offering kids a powerful reminder to be proud of their identity and community roots.
   

4. Exclusive look inside the new Milwaukee County medical examiner's office in new Wauwatosa (wisn.com) — Milwaukee County has officially moved its medical examiner's office from downtown Milwaukee to a new $140 million facility in Wauwatosa, promising faster autopsy results and improved services for families. The modern building near Froedtert Hospital adds a CT scanner, houses Emergency Management and the State Crime Lab, and will support other counties while the county prepares to sell the aging Highland Avenue site.
   

5. Blind Milwaukee bus rider raises concerns about potential MCTS route cuts amid budget deficit (tmj4.com) — A blind Milwaukee County Transit System rider is warning that one proposed route redesign, meant to close a $16 million budget gap, could eliminate or trim key lines like Routes 28 and 18 that blind workers rely on to reach jobs and services. MCTS says it's gathering public feedback through meetings, tabling sessions, and surveys before finalizing any changes.
