'I carry a bat': Milwaukee man says neglected house swarming with aggressive raccoons (wisn.com) — A Milwaukee homeowner near South 18th and Windlake says a long‑neglected neighboring house has become overrun with aggressive raccoons, forcing him to carry a bat for protection and repeatedly call the city. The Department of Neighborhood Services has boarded the garage, issued numerous violations, and is weighing further action, while the property owner has largely ignored cleanup orders.
   

2. Milwaukee County parks committee moves to remove Flock cameras (wisn.com) — Milwaukee County's parks committee has unanimously voted to remove Flock license plate reader cameras from all county parks, sending the issue to the full board for a final vote Thursday. Supporters cite privacy and data-collection concerns, while some officials worry about losing a crime‑fighting tool and may seek alternative camera technology without license plate recognition.

Community leaders say reviving or reinventing these gatherings could celebrate Black culture, unite neighborhoods, and tackle literacy, while a new, resident‑designed festival could bring many of these ideas together in one citywide celebration.
   

5. Review: FOOTLOOSE at Milwaukee Repertory Theater (broadwayworld.com) — If you love 80s nostalgia, Milwaukee Repertory Theater's production of Footloose is getting rave praise for its high‑energy performances, choreography, and updated themes. The show runs at the Checota Powerhouse Theater through November 1, giving Milwaukee theatergoers plenty of time to dance along and compare it with the classic film recently screened by Milwaukee Film.
