• Spooner Rodeo royalty excited for 72nd annual event coming up in July (wdio.com) — Spooner’s 72nd annual Heart of the North Rodeo is coming July 9–11, with tickets available online, by phone, or at the Washburn County Information Center on River Street in town. Rodeo royalty Queen Samantha Peck and Princess Ari Frederickson say this year’s event will be especially patriotic and will feature new entertainment like Brian Patton the Misfit Cowboy and the Rodeo City Riders.
   

• Ag Station has new superintendent (gazettextra.com) — Spooner’s Ag Research Station has a new superintendent, horticultural scientist Dr. Danyang Liu, who brings experience with crops, soil health, and advanced greenhouse technology. He’s settling into Spooner, supporting visiting researchers, working with local farmers, and planning expanded events and classes to help future generations grow food and explore agricultural careers.
