Southeast Wisconsin Families Invited to First-Ever Homeschool Expo Designed for All Families — With Deep Resources for Children with Additional Needs
The Wisconsin Homeschooling Expo- Speaking Life Into Homeschool brings vendors, experts, and resources together for all homeschooling families — with special programming and resources for those raising children with additional needs
WAUKESHA, Wis., June 2026 — Families across southeast Wisconsin are invited to attend the Speaking Life Into Homeschool Expo on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Waukesha Expo Center in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The one-day event brings together vendors, educational resources, and expert presenters to support all homeschooling families — including those raising children with learning differences, developmental delays, autism, ADHD, and other additional needs.
The expo is open to all homeschooling families, regardless of educational philosophy or faith background, and is designed to meet families where they are — whether they are just beginning to consider homeschooling or are looking for better tools and resources to support a child they are already teaching at home.
"So many families are exploring alternative options for their child's learning but don't know where to start," said Elyse Scheeler, founder of Speaking Life Speech Therapy &amp; Wellness and creator of the expo. "We created the expo to be that starting point — a place to get connected to the many resources available right here in Wisconsin, whether that's therapies, enrichment programming, curriculum ideas, or something else entirely. We want families to come for a full day of fun, activities, and the chance to connect with people who get it."
Attendees will have access to exhibit booths featuring curriculum providers, therapy and wellness resources, and family support services. The event will also feature presentations from experts across a range of topics relevant to homeschooling families at every stage of their journey. On August 22nd, 2026 from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. the community is invited to experience all that Riding with Angels has to offer and see the farm in action. Riding with Angels’ mission is twofold. First, Riding with Angels rescues horses in dire situations, nursing them back to health and providing a safe environment for them to thrive again. Second, Riding with Angels uses these rescued horses to provide a youth horsemanship program to youth facing adversity or challenges. The youth horsemanship program focuses primarily on youth 7 to 18 who might not otherwise get a chance to experience the healing wonder of working with horses.
The event will have rescue horse spotlights along with horse demonstrations including dressage, liberty, obstacles and jumping. We’ll have games, roping demonstrations, live music and a silent auction. Children of all ages will enjoy “painting a horse”, kids’ crafts, pony rides and a petting zoo. We’ll also have food and drinks. Event attendees will also be able to talk with some of the young people who have participated in our youth horsemanship program to hear about their experiences.
“It’s been nearly 28 years since we began our journey in Palmyra and we’re thrilled to be celebrating with our community this summer” says Marianne Schulz, Riding with Angels’ Director. It’s with your support that we can continue helping these amazing creatures and provide a youth horsemanship program.In doing so, we provide a place for horses and youth to foster hope and healing.
