The city is exploring non-industrial uses for the 6.77-acre, brownfield redevelopment site, building on earlier community sessions and long-term plans to transition the former industrial area into multi-family residential-focused development.

Popcorn wagon continues decades-long tradition in downtown Wausau (wsaw.com) — A longtime popcorn wagon tradition is still going strong in downtown Wausau, now run by Gourmet Peddler owner Amy Alvis, who grew up visiting the cart herself. The wagon serves popcorn, snow cones and smoothies, and benefits from the many events on the 400 Block that draw people to nearby shops and restaurants. Residents are encouraged to stop by before or during downtown programs.

Marathon County committee recommends removing supervisor from Health and Human Services Committee (wsaw.com) — Marathon County’s Executive Committee, meeting in Wausau, has recommended removing Supervisor Nicholas Endres from the Health and Human Services Committee following a third-party review of his conduct tied to a still-open criminal case. Endres, who remains on the county board after winning reelection, says he maintains his innocence, supports transparency and is not worried about the board’s internal investigation into his role.
