• Police in Wisconsin warn of an increase in vehicle theft reports (wearegreenbay.com) — Wauwatosa police are stepping up late-night patrols after a string of vehicle break-ins throughout August, including one case where officers and a drone quickly caught a suspect and recovered stolen property. Residents are urged to lock their cars, remove valuables, and stay vigilant so officers and neighbors can work together to cut down on these crimes of opportunity.
   

• Witness Investment Buys Wisconsin Renaissance Hotel (asianhospitality.com) — A major Wauwatosa hotel has new ownership, as Chicago-based Witness Investment purchased the 196-room Renaissance Milwaukee West in the city's main retail and medical hub near Mayfair Mall and the Regional Medical Center. The modern, 12-story Marriott-branded property, built in 2020, offers nearly 10,000 square feet of event space and reflects continued investor confidence in Wauwatosa's growing hospitality and mixed-use corridor.
   

• Appleton-area high school sports results for Friday, Sept. 4 (postcrescent.com) — Area high school athletes, including runners from Wauwatosa East and Wauwatosa West, turned in notable performances in Friday's cross-country meets, with both boys' and girls' teams appearing in large invitational fields. The roundup also highlights a full slate of football, tennis, and other results from Appleton, Freedom, Menasha, and more, giving a broad look at how regional teams opened their early-season schedules.
