Secretary of state challenges Cheyenne council's move to seek annexation referendum ruling (wyomingnews.com) — Cheyenne officials are seeking a court ruling on whether residents can challenge a 3,460-acre annexation tied to Microsoft's proposed data center expansion through the city's referendum process or only in district court. Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray is urging the mayor and council to let the referendum proceed while the city clerk verifies petition signatures. If enough are certified, the annexation would pause and could go to a citywide vote, possibly requiring a special election.
   

2. Cheyenne proposes urban agriculture updates; City Council work session set for Friday (capcity.news) — Cheyenne is considering significant updates to its urban agriculture rules, and residents can review the draft and submit feedback online before it goes to city officials. A City Council work session on the proposal is set for noon Friday, Aug. 21, at the Municipal Building and via Zoom, though no public comment will be taken then. Changes could affect where animals and other agricultural activities are allowed within city limits.
   

3. Cheyenne seeks applicants for Mayor's Council for People with Disabilities (capcity.news) — Cheyenne is looking for a resident to fill an open seat on the Mayor's Council for People with Disabilities through Dec. 31, 2026, with preference for someone willing to serve as secretary. The volunteer council advises city leaders on accessibility, transportation, employment and other daily living issues. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, through the city's boards webpage.
   

4. LCSD1 implements $2,500 fine for teachers who break contract, approves new equipment policy (capcity.news) — Cheyenne's Laramie County School District 1 has approved a new $2,500 fee for teachers who break their contracts early without board approval, aiming to offset recruitment and staffing costs. Trustees also revised the equipment take-home policy so teachers and other staff can keep using district laptops and gear at home under streamlined, ongoing permissions rather than constant supervisor sign-offs.
   

5. Cheyenne Pizza Joint Gets Stiffed With $300 Order, Donates 18 Pizzas To Hospital (cowboystatedaily.com) — When a large pizza order in Cheyenne turned out to be a prank, L'Osteria Mondello chose to donate all 18 pies to staff at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center's emergency room instead of letting them go to waste. The owner describes the hectic afternoon, his trust in the Cheyenne community, and how sharing food fits into the restaurant's Italian-inspired, family-style philosophy.
