Second Reading of 2026-2027 City of Rawlins Budget Passes (bigfoot99.com) — Rawlins’ governing body has advanced next year’s city budget, including higher water, sewer, landfill, and recycling fees plus funding for seven replacement vehicles for water, sewer, fire, and police departments. The plan also sets aside millions for water projects, street repairs, nonprofit support, and small raises for top city officials, though one councilman opposed the fee hikes and purchases.
   

2. Rawlins Higley Boulevard pedestrian underpass to move into second phase of construction (einpresswire.com) — Expect a major detour on Higley Boulevard starting Monday, June 15, as crews close part of the US 287 Bypass in Rawlins to install a long-planned pedestrian underpass. The tunnel will give safer access between Highland Hills, nearby schools, and areas west of the bypass, funded mostly by state urban systems money and the local 6th Penny tax.
   

3. Baggs Officer in Critical Condition, Suspect Killed (sweetwaternow.com) — A fundraiser in Rawlins is helping Sgt. Zach Burns, critically injured in a June 8 shooting in Baggs after a suspect opened fire and later died in a shootout with deputies. Residents can donate online, at Bank of Commerce’s Rawlins or Saratoga branches, or by mailing checks to a Rawlins P.O. Box benefiting Burns and his family.
   

4. Lummis Still Backs 'Trump Interstate' Despite Texas Sponsor Losing Interest In It (cowboystatedaily.com) — Rawlins sits on a key stretch of U.S. Highway 287 that could someday become “Interstate 47,” a proposed route named for former President Trump. Wyoming Sen. Cynthia Lummis still backs the plan even as its Texas sponsor downplays it, leaving the long-term prospects for upgrades along the Rawlins corridor uncertain.
