Jefferson County officials said they received multiple reports of trees falling onto homes during the overnight storms, although no additional storm-related injuries had been reported as of late Saturday morning.
Power outages, downed trees and debris remain the primary concerns across the county, with public works employees, emergency responders and utility crews working to clear roads and restore electricity.
"Please remain patient and give these crews room to work safely," the agency said.
As of the publication of this story, the latest figures show 231,468 homes and businesses without power in Alabama, including 12,940 in Jefferson County.
In an update just before noon on Saturday, Alabama Power said downed trees and damaged power lines have impacted communities Odenville, Brewton, Evergreen and Selma.
"Our crews are working through challenging conditions to restore customers as quickly and safely as possible," Alabama Power said in a statement posted to X.
