The Birmingham Police Department said investigators recovered multiple firearms from the scene, while one person was detained and transported to BPD headquarters for questioning.

Authorities have not announced any formal charges or identified the person detained.

Following the shooting, BPD suspended all tailgating activities and ordered everyone to leave the area around Legion Field.

In a Facebook post late Saturday evening, BPD urged anyone who recorded video of the incident to share the footage with investigators as they continue working to piece together what happened.

Police said anyone submitting video through the department's evidence portal will remain anonymous.

Those with information about the shooting are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777 or submit video footage through the Birmingham Police Department's online evidence portal.

In the wake of the shooting, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin condemned the violence, saying the community was "hurt, shaken and rightfully angry."

"There is no argument, no beef, no misunderstanding that can justify this level of senseless violence during a night of celebration," Woodfin said. "But hear me clearly: We refuse to let fear shake the spirit of this community. Justice will be served to those who brought harm to those at one of our most treasured events."
