• Childersburg Fire and Rescue performs first field blood transfusion to help gunshot victim (abc3340.com) — Childersburg firefighters have successfully used their new in-truck blood supply to perform the city’s first field transfusion, stabilizing a gunshot victim before a long trip to UAB Hospital. The program, only two months old, is rare nationwide and especially vital because Childersburg is about 45 minutes from the nearest Level One trauma center.
