State investigators and the coroner are handling the case, and authorities are withholding identities pending family notification while asking anyone with information to contact SBI or the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.

• West Point recognizes Juneteenth, retiree (valleytimes-news.com) — Lanett city employees are again getting Juneteenth as an official holiday, alongside neighboring West Point and LaFayette, as part of a broader Greater Valley celebration. West Point’s council just proclaimed June 2026 as Juneteenth Month, highlighting regional events like a Freedom Walk, Gospel Fest, community festival, fireworks, and a new scholarship that Lanett residents can join across the Valley.
