Journey Middle School teacher arrested on charges related to child sex abuse materials (whnt.com) — A Journey Middle School teacher with Madison City Schools has been arrested on multiple charges related to child sexual abuse materials, and the district has placed him on immediate administrative leave, barring him from school property. Madison Police are leading the investigation, and school officials urge any parents or students with relevant information to contact the department while emphasizing their focus on student safety.
   

2. Huntsville construction company cited for safety violations in deadly 2025 trench collapse (whnt.com) — A construction worker was killed when a trench collapsed at a Madison County subdivision near Old Jim Williams Road and Martin Road, and federal investigators now say the site had multiple serious safety violations. OSHA has cited Huntsville-based Breland Homes for eight violations and proposed more than $115,000 in penalties, giving the company 15 days to comply, negotiate, or contest the findings.
   

3. Key evidence lost in 2023 Madison County birthday party shooting case (waaytv.com) — A high-profile Madison County birthday party shooting case is in jeopardy after defense attorneys argued that lost video interviews and other missing evidence violate the defendant’s right to a fair trial. Prosecutors admit the recordings were erased but say written summaries exist and insist dismissing the charges would be too extreme, leaving a judge to decide the case’s future.
   

4. Barons Flex Early, Take Down Trash Pandas 7-4 on the Road (milb.com) — Madison baseball fans saw the Rocket City Trash Pandas fall 7–4 to the Birmingham Barons at Toyota Field after Birmingham jumped out with five runs in the first two innings. The game, played Thursday night in Madison still featured strong offensive moments for Rocket City but was ultimately controlled late by dominant Barons pitching. Expect more home action soon at Toyota Field.
