1. Family Guidance Center of Alabama to host Community Career Fair in Mobile (mynbc15.com) — Job seekers in Mobile can connect directly with local employers and training programs at a free career fair on September 28 at Goodwill Gulf Coast on Gordon Smith Drive. The Family Guidance Center of Alabama is bringing together businesses, nonprofits, and workforce agencies to share open positions, hiring requirements, and support services aimed at long-term employment success.
   

2. Mobile rolls forward with trolley expansion as councilman urges a pause (utv44.com) — Mobile's City Council has cleared the way to seek federal funding for five trolley-style buses as part of a broader overhaul of the city's transit system. While the mayor touts trolleys to boost ridership, one councilman wants to see results before expanding further, even as new routes, microtransit, and the Second Line Transit trolley launch around September 28.
   

3. K-9 search at Theodore High highlights vaping concerns (mynbc15.com) — A recent K-9 search at Theodore High School in Mobile County turned up more than eight vaping devices, including marijuana vapes, prompting renewed concern about student drug use. School board member Johnny Hatcher says vaping is showing up as early as middle school and stresses strict enforcement and parental involvement. Students caught with vapes were suspended under Mobile County Public Schools policy.
   

4. Doorbell camera captures shots fired on Rickarby Street, less than two months after woman was shot on same road (fox10tv.com) — Gunfire erupted again on Rickarby Street in Mobile on September 13, less than two months after a woman survived being shot on the same block. Doorbell video captured bullets striking cars and a home, and neighbors fear escalating violence. Mobile police are still seeking leads, and the city's public safety director is exploring rewards for tips after Crime Stoppers ended payouts.
   

5. New recruits begin training at Mobile Fire-Rescue academy (dailydispatch.com) — New recruits at Mobile Fire-Rescue are deep into fire school, building on weeks of EMT training with instruction in firefighting basics, hazmat awareness, and rapid intervention. The academy also serves as a regional hub, bringing in firefighters from nearby departments like Spanish Fort, Daphne, and Prichard to train alongside Mobile's 29-member class.
