Jimmy Buffett in bronze: New Alabama waterfront statue captures singer's spirit (al.com) — A new 7.5-foot bronze Jimmy Buffett statue now overlooks the Mobile waterfront, anchoring a major exhibit about his Mobile roots and music career. The "Son of a Son of a Sailor Experience" opens Saturday at the Maritime Museum, with live music, a Mac McAnally concert at the Saenger, and mural festivities drawing Parrotheads downtown.

Mobile plans school safety expansion with intervention specialists, new SROs (al.com) — Mobile officials are moving to place new intervention specialists and additional school resource officers in city schools, with Mobile County Public Schools expected to fund much of the expansion. If approved, the plan would add four contract intervention staff soon and four Mobile police SROs once funding is secured, potentially in place before year's end.

Mobile resident slams overgrowth and dumping on Caruthers Way (wkrg.com) — Neighbors on Caruthers Way in Mobile say overgrown brush, dumped tires, and trash have turned their street into an eyesore and safety concern, even hiding a traffic sign. Despite repeated 311 calls, they report no cleanup yet, and the city now says it's working to identify the property owner so it can finally force a fix.
