• Week 6 Central Alabama football schedule features good non-traditional games (al.com) — Mountain Brook's football team hosts Oxford this Friday in one of Week 6's marquee Central Alabama matchups, as region play pauses for non-traditional games. The broader schedule brings big-name visitors like Knoxville Catholic to Hoover and several strong programs to the Birmingham area, giving local fans plenty of options for Friday night football.
• Birmingham Council approves deal for repairs to Village Creek pedestrian bridge (birminghamwatch.org) — Mountain Brook will install and maintain a new sculpture in the Cahaba Road roundabout near the Birmingham Zoo, part of a joint project between the two cities that finished last year. Birmingham's council also advanced neighborhood planning and bridge repair work, but the art agreement means Mountain Brook residents will soon see a new landmark at a heavily traveled gateway between communities.
