• Brewzle Fest 2026 Coming To Alabama This August (thewhiskeywash.com) — Opelika will host Brewzle Fest 2026 on Saturday, Aug. 29, bringing more than 35 distilleries and vendors to town for craft whiskey tastings, educational panels, and interactive experiences. Organizers say ticket demand is already ahead of last year as the festival spotlights smaller, independent whiskey producers and offers enthusiasts a chance to meet emerging regional distilleries. 
• Opelika woman sentenced to over 11 years for sex trafficking scheme involving minor (wsfa.com) — An Opelika woman has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for her role in a commercial sex trafficking scheme involving a 17-year-old, a case investigated in part by Opelika Police. Prosecutors say she helped advertise and transport the minor for paid sex in December 2023, and she must now serve supervised release and register as a sex offender for life. A second Opelika co-defendant will be sentenced later.
• 16 Opelika-Auburn area softball players earn ASWA All-State honors (oanow.com) — Softball players from the Opelika–Auburn area have earned Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State honors following the 2026 season, highlighting strong performances from local high schools. Photos and descriptions spotlight Opelika’s own athletes alongside neighboring programs like Auburn, Beauregard, and Glenwood, underscoring how competitive the region has become on the diamond.
