• Neglected city-owned property raises concerns in Selma (waka.com) — Neighbors in Selma are worried about the long-closed, city-owned Byrd School, which has deteriorated since storm and tornado damage and years of neglect. Mayor Johnny Moss III and Councilman Clay Carmichael say they’re working on a plan to address the property and prevent similar problems with other school buildings like Clark.
   

• Popular summer art camp underway in Selma (waka.com) — Families in Selma can plug their kids into a long-running local art camp where ages 8 to 16 rotate through seven creative stations and keep everything they make. This week’s session is underway, and another camp is set for July 13–17, with organizer Candi Duncan sharing details by phone for interested parents.
   

• Historic Jackson Home from Selma set to open in Michigan (wsfa.com) — Selma’s famed Jackson Home, once a hub for Dr. King and voting‑rights strategizing, has been rebuilt at The Henry Ford in Michigan and opens this weekend, but city leaders stress its story still starts on Selma soil. Mayor Johnny Moss and tourism officials hope the exhibit draws new visitors back to Selma’s original site, where a mural, signage, and cleanup efforts aim to keep the historic neighborhood an inviting stop.
