ALDOT To Begin Major Highway 43 Resurfacing Project This Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Motorists traveling along U.S. Highway 43 in northern Tuscaloosa County should expect delays beginning Tuesday as the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) starts a major roadway improvement project.

ALDOT said the project includes resurfacing and installing new guardrail along a 5.4-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 43 from the Lake Tuscaloosa Bridge to just south of Northside Road.

Construction is scheduled to begin Tuesday and continue through the fall, weather permitting.
S.T. Bunn Construction Co. was awarded the contract, which is valued at approximately $2.72 million.

Traffic will be guided through the work zone by a pilot car while crews are working.
ALDOT is urging motorists to plan for possible delays, reduce speed in the work zone and remain alert for workers and changing traffic conditions.
