ALDOT says crews will install six girders, which serve as key support beams for the bridge structure.

During each placement, eastbound traffic will be stopped for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Transportation officials said no lane closures will take place before 8:30 a.m. or after 2:30 p.m. in an effort to reduce impacts during peak travel periods.

Crews previously placed girders for the westbound portion of the bridge last fall as part of the ongoing bridge replacement project.

Law enforcement officers will assist with traffic control during the work.

Drivers traveling through the area are encouraged to allow extra travel time and monitor conditions using the ALGOTraffic app or by visiting the ALDOT website for real-time traffic updates
