Arts Council Unveils 2026-27 TuscArts OnStage Lineup At Bama Theatre

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa is preparing to kick off its 2026-27 TuscArts OnStage season at the Historic Bama Theatre with five performances ranging from classic rock and jazz to Broadway favorites and family entertainment.

The Arts Council announced the season will get underway Saturday, Aug. 22, with "Back In Black: The Ultimate Powered Up AC/DC Experience," a tribute act that aims to recreate the sound, energy and spectacle of an AC/DC concert.

The show begins at 8 p.m. and will be the first in a season stretching through April 2027.

Next up will be "Jukebox Saturday Night's Music of Mancini" at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.

This production celebrates composer Henry Mancini and features music associated with "The Glenn Miller Story," "Peter Gunn," "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "The Pink Panther."

The performance also incorporates narration tracing Mancini's career from Pittsburgh to Hollywood.

Families can also look forward to Sunday, Nov. 1, when TheaterWorksUSA brings "The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System" to the Bama Theatre at 4 p.m.

Based on the popular children's book series, the musical follows Ms. Frizzle and her students on an adventure through space while exploring themes of science, friendship and teamwork.

The series will then take a break before returning in spring 2027.

• Oct. 16, 2026, 7 p.m. — Music of Mancini performed by Jukebox Saturday Night
• Nov. 1, 2026, 4 p.m. — TheaterWorksUSA presents "The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System"
• March 29, 2027, 7 p.m. — Jazz at Lincoln Center PRESENTS: World on a String — Swinging Songs of Broadway, featuring Kate Kortum and David Marino
• April 16, 2027, 8 p.m. — Direct from Sweden: The Music of ABBA
